Sr. Finance Manager / Plant Controller

About the job

The Plant Controller is responsible for leading the finance and accounting activities for our manufacturing facility located in Kvistgaard, Denmark, being responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the accounting records and executing the financial close process within prescribed deadlines.

This position will also be responsible for coordinating with SBU, regional and local management relative to business unit financial activities, including annual budgeting, strategic planning, monthly reporting, cost variance analysis, and spending trend analysis.

This leadership position is for an individual with a well-rounded portfolio of experiences including general accounting knowledge, ability to analyze manufacturing and spending trend variances to tell the story behind the results. The Plant Controller frequently interacts with corporate and business unit leadership. This position will report directly to the SBU European Regional Controller located in Denmark, with a dotted line to the Plant Manager.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Serves as the primary partner to our Plant Manager to drive operational performance improvement, using data to assist in managerial oversight.
  • Working with the AMS Controller, you will be responsible for accurate and timely reporting of the site’s financial information in accordance with schedules and content required by Corporate and SBU management.
  • Performs monthly close process ensuring completeness and accuracy of plant financial reportings.
  • Responsible for quarterly forecasting and the annual operating plan process for the plant.
  • Prepares and presents analysis of financial results comparing to budget and forecasts.
  • Prepares and reviews manufacturing metrics including lean KPIs and weekly manufacturing variances (labor efficiencies, PPV, scrap).
  • Responsible for annual standard cost setting process.
  • Validates and tracks cost reduction projects.
  • Maintains a strong level of compliance with internal controls.
  • Plans, coordinates, and reconciles the annual physical inventory count.
  • Assists in preparing capital expenditure requests, including financial justifications when required.
  • Responsible for the collection of data used for costing and customer pricing decisions.
  • Supports internal and external audits.
  • Performs ad hoc analysis including trend analysis, actual vs. budget analysis, inventory management.

Your Profile

You have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with an Accounting or Finance major, combined with a minimum of 5 years' experience as a Business Controller, Finance Business Partner, Business Analyst or similar in a manufacturing company. Audit experience will further be considered a plus.

You have great strength in collaboration with different types of people, just as you enjoy working with systems, data and analysis.

We are currently in the process of implementing SAP S4/hana.

If you have knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management and advanced Excel skills, that is a further plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to communicate financial information to financial and non-financial managers.
  • Leadership skills with coaching, mentoring and performance management skills required for staff reporting directly to this position.
  • Excellent analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Close attention to detail with high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple priorities and to work under strict deadlines, particularly during the monthly close process.
  • Committed and dedicated to continuous improvement.
  • Strong finance and accounting toolbox acquired.
  • Experience with Oracle HFM is considered a plus.
  • Fluent in Danish and full working proficient in English required.
