How to write a great company profile

This guide will help you craft a compelling company profile that accurately represents your workplace and attracts the right candidates.

Length/format

We recommend keeping the text around one A4 page, or roughly 2,000 characters. Divide it into three sections, each with a relevant heading. Aim for equal length in each section to meet the company profile specifications.

Example of what the 3 sections could cover:
  • Who we are/what we do
  • Our culture
  • Unique benefits

What to remember when writing

Write directly to your target audience and consider what key messages you wish to convey, so the text does not stray in different directions. Highlight what makes your company cool, exciting, unique, and attractive.

As a rule of thumb, one heading should address what the company does and what it helps to create. One should be about what it’s like to be part of the company, and one should talk about what the company offers and what development opportunities candidates will have.

Always keep the candidates in mind when writing, to ensure that the text becomes more engaging and relevant to the person on the other end—not a mechanical listing.

Questions to get you started

A good place to start is to think about the answers to a few select questions.

For instance, you could consider:
  • What message do we want to highlight in our company profile? Do we have a strategic goal or a particular agenda we are proud of?
  • What kinds of employees do we have—and what departments are we divided into?
  • What is our company culture like? What characterises us—and what is important to tell future employees/colleagues?
  • What development opportunities or internal training do we offer?
  • Why should someone apply for a job with us specifically?
