It’s my job to ensure a safe and effective production for our teams in the North Sea.

Christian, Production Superintendent, Field Operations

Meet Christian, Production Superintendent, Field Operations

“Life on a platform is a lot like life on a ship. Both resembles being part of a small town, and my colleagues and I are responsible for ensuring that the town is run smoothly and safely.”

Life offshore – and onshore

At TotalEnergies, you will have ample opportunity to challenge yourself in various settings and at different tasks.

Christian has done just that. Starting his career as a Trainee in 2010 in the North Sea, he has worked at different location as a Chief Production Operator. Today, he is a Production Superintendent working offshore for 2 weeks at a time followed by 3 weeks leave combined with 1 week onshore at the office.

In his work, Christian gets to draw on all his engineering knowhow, making good use of the tools he learned while studying as well as those he has picked up along the way. He has gotten to test and develop his technical management skills and fine-tune his knack for securing a safe environment.

“Some engineers are generalists, some are specialists. Personally, I need to be a generalist because I get around every aspect of our work. But we need both in our team.” Christian

Christian´s funfacts

Graduated as a Marine Engineer in 2010

Suffers from aerophobia (fear of flying) but still manages to get in a helicopter every time he goes offshore

Has a background in the army

Great colleagues and a strong team spirit

Safety is top of mind on a rig, where gas and oil need to stay in the pipes and tasks need to be performed in a safe and expedient manner. This is something which Christian and his colleagues work hard to ensure. But onshore the cooperation and teamwork does not cease.

When at the office, we still have a flat hierarchy and a practical approach to safety. What is more, TotalEnergies also has a safety mindset when looking ahead. We continue to expand our portfolio, all while improving the safety for people and equipment and enhancing our environmental performance.

“If you’re part of TotalEnergies, you’re usually in it for the long haul. Not only is there a high level of job security, but it’s a global company that constantly evolves, which opens up a lot of international opportunities.” Christian
