Senior Electrical Engineer, High Voltage (GIS)

Esbjerg

Are you a seasoned HV engineer with extensive GIS expertise? Do you understand what it takes to specify the right GIS solution and navigate the trade-offs between performance, reliability, cost, footprint and delivery schedules? Can you translate customer requirements into practical, value-driven solutions? Then join our team and help shape the projects that are driving the global transition towards renewable energy!

Your position

In your new position, you will be a key contributor to our major tender projects, collaborating closely with a team of experienced engineers to translate customer requirements into robust and scalable offerings. Drawing on your expertise in high-voltage GIS solutions, you will help shape technical decisions, collaborate with strategic suppliers, and strengthen our value proposition.

Beyond tender activities, you will contribute to the continuous development of our HV competencies, product portfolio, and ways of working, helping strengthen our technical foundation for future growth.

You will join our Product Line Management (PLM) Solution Engineering team, a multidisciplinary group collaborating with customers, suppliers and colleagues across the organization.

As part of PLM, you will contribute to our ambition of making offshore substations more modular, standardized, and repeatable.

You will help define not only the solutions we deliver today, but also the solutions we bring to market tomorrow.

Building on our strong offshore substation capabilities, we are also exploring opportunities within onshore substations. Experience with onshore transmission systems, including EHV GIS/AIS, grid transformers, reactive compensation, harmonic filtering or grid connection equipment, will therefore be considered an advantage and may provide opportunities to contribute beyond our offshore portfolio.

Working in an international and collaborative environment, you will help transform proven engineering concepts into repeatable products that support the continued growth of renewable energy worldwide.

The position is full-time and includes approximately 10-30 travel days per year. We place a high value on flexibility, and most travel can be planned to align with both business requirements and personal preferences.

We have built a leading position within offshore substations, and PLM plays a key role in ensuring that we maintain and strengthen that position. By developing scalable solutions, standardizing our products, and challenging established ways of working, we make sure that we are ready to meet the demands of both today’s and tomorrow’s energy markets. We currently support projects across Europe, the UK, North America, and Asia, but our ambition is simple: to be ready wherever the next opportunity emerges.

Jannick Elmbæk Olsen, Director, Product Line Management

Your tasks & responsibilities

As our new Senior High Voltage Engineer, you will play a key role in the development, positioning, and continuous improvement of the products and solutions offered within our offshore substation product line. Working closely with customers, suppliers, procurement, and our project execution teams, you will help shape solutions that remain competitive, scalable, and aligned with future market demands.

Your tasks will include:

  • Support tender activities by defining and evaluating 66 kV and 230/275 kV GIS solutions.
  • Translate customer needs, market trends, and supplier capabilities into competitive product offerings.
  • Optimize solutions with respect to performance, reliability, footprint, cost, and lead time.
  • Develop and maintain the GIS product roadmap in line with future market requirements and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and strategic suppliers to strengthen competitiveness and drive cost optimization.
  • Contribute to the standardization and modularization of our GIS product portfolio.
  • Ensure a seamless handover of as-sold solutions to our EPC engineering teams.

Your profile & qualifications

To succeed in this role, you are an experienced High Voltage Engineer with extensive GIS expertise and a passion for developing competitive solutions for the renewable energy industry.

We imagine that you:

  • Hold a degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Have extensive experience with medium- and high-voltage GIS systems, including 66 kV array systems and 230/275 kV transmission-level applications, from offshore wind, utilities, transmission, manufacturing, or EPC projects.
  • Experience with offshore GIS applications, technology qualification, or emerging SF6-free switchgear technologies is considered an advantage.
  • Understand the technical and commercial drivers behind GIS selection, including performance, cost, footprint, weight, and lead time.
  • Are comfortable working with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to balance technical and commercial requirements.
  • Have a strategic mindset and enjoy translating market needs into scalable product offerings.
  • Communicate clearly in English and can translate complex technical topics into sound business decisions.
  • Thrive in a collaborative and international environment and enjoy working across disciplines and cultures.
  • If you also bring experience or exposure to onshore substations, grid connections, or related high-voltage systems, we would be interested to hear about it.
