Principal Electro-Acoustic Engineer

Smørum and hybrid

Would you like to engage in meaningful work five days a week? A career where you contribute to the quality of life for people worldwide. Guess what? You have found the right place! We are currently looking for a new colleague to join R&D in our Hardware, Acoustics & Integration department.

Oticon is a part of the Demant Group. Our R&D department embraces the whole circle of development in-house. In Hardware Acoustics & Integration department, we are looking for a Principal Electro-Acoustic Engineer who would like to contribute with innovative electro acoustic development and who would like the prospect of spearheading future product development.

Join the Acoustics and Integration team

Our team is responsible for design and verification of the electroacoustic concepts we use in our products, and for applying transducer knowledge in the design work. We focus on delivering high-quality hearing aid solutions, based on in-depth transducer knowledge and development of new acoustic concepts for future products. We depend on, and facilitate, in-depth knowledge about vibroacoustic behavior of subsystems and complete hearing aid solutions.

We participate in product development as well as maturation of concepts, before they are used in product development.
Communication of results, whether in the Agile Release Train, projects, concept development or documented knowledge, is key to our success, as is cross functional cooperation with mechanical and electronics developers in our teams.

Building innovative Electro Acoustic Solutions

Collaborating with 60 skilled team members, you will work to innovate electro acoustic and mechanical solutions that elevate the experience of both end-users and hearing care professionals. In your new job you will be part of Oticon’s Hardware Function, more specifically the Hardware Acoustics and Mechanics group. The excitement this group faces daily is the development of highly complex platforms, due to the high degree of functionality that hearing instruments offer. Furthermore, we focus on developing our platforms to fit multiple brands, adding to the complexity. The team works closely together with other professionals, i.e., audiologists and engineers specializing in amplifiers and embedded systems.

The biggest challenge is to develop a platform that provides the needed acoustical gain and at the same time securing a good mechanical and acoustic feedback margin. Close cooperation with mechanical engineers, simulation experts, and the pre-production team is crucial for a good result.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Acoustic systemdesign and Development
  • Foundation for technical datasheet
  • Design specifications
  • Effort estimation and planning
  • Selection of components i.e. transducers – microphones, receivers/speakers
  • Testing, verifying and documenting electro-acoustical performance of HW platforms

In the role of Principal Electro Acoustic Developer, you will collaborate with skilled team members to advance the design of next-generation cutting-edge hearing instruments.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • You ensure a clear and reliable technical data sheet, combining audiology insights with HW platform knowledge to reflect the best possible system performance.
  • You keep the big picture in mind and communicate effectively with stakeholders in and outside cross-functional teams.
  • You bring deep domain knowledge and industry perspective, helping us stay ahead.
  • You are familiar with relevant standards and common tender requirements.
  • You are skilled at navigating conflicting design priorities, making strategic decisions that balances performance, cost and time to mark.
  • You understand the art of tradeoffs and are driven to deliver a highly effective product—on time and within scope.

Experienced electro acoustic developer

We expect you to hold a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering, focusing specifically on electro acoustics. You have several years of experience as a Principal/lead electro acoustic developer. We anticipate that you possess extensive experience in Sound Quality, Acoustic measurements, vibro-acoustics, and sound path design. Knowledge of working with electro acoustic or magnetic designs of hearing instruments or other smaller products such as cell phones, headsets or similar is an advantage.

You flourish in interactive surroundings and take pleasure in collaborating with experienced peers to optimize your skills. We offer further development opportunities and believe Oticon is a good place to develop your career further.

As a person, you are proud of your profession, curious and a team player by heart. You have good communication skills and enjoy networking and navigating in a project driven, cross-functional organization with several varying projects.
