RF Engineer

Smørum, Hybrid position

Imagine a universe of all high-tech engineering competencies under one roof. Imagine more than a thousand engineers working as a united team on a special medical product. A product that changes people’s lives for the better. Now, stop imagining and enter our world - the Demant universe.

Become part of a great team!

You step into a team of 12 dedicated RF & Antenna engineers who enjoy highly complex tasks. Together, we like to broaden the scope of what can be done. And we like being part of a complete product cycle. A product for mass production on a miniature scale. To perform best, we have the newest instruments and technologies at our disposal, including our own tool shop and test facilities.

Designing high-quality electronics

All in all, we are about 60 engineers and technicians in our Electronics Group. Our main goal is to develop the electronics solutions for all Demant’s hearing aids and accessories. We have a close collaboration with our Chipset Group, which develops the company’s proprietary ICs.

Our team integrates the ICs and other components onto very small PCBs. We use technologies like Bluetooth & NFMI antennas, acoustic & magnetic transducers, and rechargeable batteries to finally put the entire hearing aid system together into a product to the benefit of hearing-impaired people worldwide.

In the RF & Antenna group, we integrate the RF circuitry and develop the antennas for our 2.4GHz Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity system.

Development tasks from Design to Mass Production

By joining us, you will be involved in all development steps: from initial product specifications to design and verification and in the end, handover for mass production. Designing small-sized products with great performance is the key driver for our success and the limited space and high integration level makes this a very complex, yet motivating, task.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • To integrate ICs and other key components onto PCBs with size, tough requirements, and RF performance in mind.
  • To evaluate the performance of the system and be attentive in improving the system performance even more.
  • To verify electrical performance against tough requirements, e.g., transmit power, receiver sensitivity, signal integrity, wireless link quality etc. in relevant use cases. On top of that you need to adhere to several regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in cost saving and maintenance tasks for in-market products.
  • To document individual tasks by means of e.g., design specifications, test specifications, and measurement reports and contribute to the knowledge sharing, writing lessons learned and best practice documents, when relevant.
  • To support the prototype builds including electrical test specification.

As we are a medical device regulated company, abiding by standard procedures for carrying out development work and verification is a must.

Your qualifications

You will be required to work within your own technical area and at the same time maintain an overview, enabling you to see a broader perspective. To become effective in the position, you shall be able to tick off most of the areas below:

  • A M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Electronics Engineering and that you have experience within integration of Bluetooth radios or other RF technologies.
  • Well-founded general theoretical knowledge about microwave RF design.
  • Experience in designing systems that include multiple devices and radios. Being able to understand your part’s contribution to the system performance and user experience.
  • Experience in making systems, circuits, or EM simulations.
  • Experience in practical RF-lab work: E.g., using a network or spectrum analyzer, verifying specific radio performance parameters Rx/Tx performance, frequency synthesis, impedance matching techniques etc. If you are familiar with Bluetooth Low Energy, it will be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements is a plus (medical equipment).
  • The work is carried out in teams according to agile principles. If you do not have earlier experience with this work mode, you should have an interest in learning.
  • You know how to work according to established quality processes and have good documentation practice.

Furthermore, you are a team player and appreciate working in an international environment where two days are rarely alike. You show a high level of engagement and ensure that your tasks are in progress, and you take a methodical and systematic approach to complex problem solving.

So, come join our universe!

Experience the company’s inspiring spirit the very moment you enter our world. Feel the trust and support we have in each other. Join a diverse engineering crowd with many different nationalities and backgrounds.
