Are you an experienced UX Designer who enjoys making complex technical systems easier to use? Do you want a hands-on role turning system logic and user needs into interfaces people rely on to configure, monitor and operate energy systems?
At DEIF, we develop advanced control solutions for decentralised power production and complex energy management systems. You will help make these systems understandable and usable in real-world working situations.
We are looking for a UX Designer who can take design work from understanding the problem through to implementation. You will create clear, consistent interfaces, develop our design system and contribute to continuous improvements across our products.
Your role
You will join Product Insights & Design and collaborate closely with developers and domain experts. Your main focus will be hands-on design and delivery, supported by research and usability evaluation.
You will work across:
- Embedded interfaces on controller devices
- Cloud‑based platforms controlling gensets, hybrid systems, and microgrids
This is a hands-on UX role designing interfaces for complex energy systems. Within R&D, we are moving towards a more insights-driven approach to product development. Product Insights & Design is building a more systematic way to gather and connect product and user insights and translate them into design decisions and interfaces that make DEIF’s products easier to use. If you want to make an impact on our products and help shape how we work with design, this role could be a good match.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Translate complex workflows and system behaviour into clear user journeys, information architecture and interaction designs
- Create wireframes and prototypes to explore, communicate and evaluate design solutions
- Collaborate with developers and domain experts to understand technical constraints, user needs and the consequences of design decisions
- Define feasible design solutions and document interactions, states and behaviours clearly for implementation
- Support developers during implementation, review the resulting interfaces and help resolve usability issues
- Contribute to user research and usability testing, combining qualitative and quantitative evidence where appropriate and consolidating findings to inform design decisions
- Develop and maintain shared components and interaction patterns in our design system to improve consistency across products
Your experience and approach
- Experience taking UX work from problem exploration through to implemented interfaces, with a portfolio that explains your decisions and contribution
- Ability to understand complex workflows and system behaviour and turn them into clear interaction designs
- Practical experience with wireframing, prototyping, usability evaluation and design systems
- Ability to explain design decisions and work constructively with technical colleagues
- A structured approach to several concurrent tasks, making pragmatic trade-offs and adapting when priorities change
- Experience with industrial products, embedded interfaces or other complex technical systems would be an advantage
