Contura International A/S is looking for a Process Engineer to join our Technical Support & Utility team
Company description
Contura International A/S (Contura) is a Copenhagen based medical technology company that develops and manufactures innovative medical products in the fields of orthopaedics, soft tissue augmentation and animal health using its unique, patented hydrogel technology.
The manufacturing facility, which is approved in US, Europe, Canada, Australia, etc., is designed to fulfil global regulatory requirements and deliver Contura’s entire range of hydrogel products. Contura has obtained FDA approval for its product for treating stress urinary incontinence in women, Bulkamid, and a manufacturing license (§39) for production of its hydrogel technology as a medicinal product.
The company’s development, manufacturing and testing processes comply with the European Medical Devices directive 93/42/EEC and the quality system meets the standards required to obtain ISO 13485:2016.

The Team:
You will become part of the Technical Support & Utility team, working closely with colleagues across different functions to ensure stable and compliant operations.
The team consists of:
- Utility Process SMEs – providing daily operational support, acting as process responsible for utility systems, and contributing as Subject Matter Experts in projects
- Facility Manager – responsible for the building and facility-related systems, including facility infrastructure, pest control, and central heating systems
- Maintenance Technician – responsible for execution of repair and maintenance activities
The role involves close collaboration with the maintenance technicians, particularly in relation to troubleshooting, approval of completed work, and technical sparring to ensure high-quality and compliant solutions.
The Position
As our new Process Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting daily operations by delivering technical first-line support and ensuring stable and reliable operation of both production and utility systems in a GMP-regulated environment.
You will work with systems such as Pre-Treated Water (PTW), Water for Injection (WFI), HVAC, Compressed Air, as well as process equipment for hydrogel production, filling lines, blister lines, and autoclaves—focusing on troubleshooting, maintenance execution, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
Some of this work will be carried out within cleanroom environments, requiring the use of dedicated cleanroom gowning and strict adherence to cleanroom behavior.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Acting as first-line technical support for troubleshooting on utility systems and process equipment
- Coordinating preventive maintenance activities in accordance with maintenance plans
- Reviewing and approving completed maintenance and calibration activities to ensure compliance with GMP and internal procedures
- Investigating technical issues and documenting non-conformities (NCs) related to equipment and system performance
- Initiating and maintaining Change Request (CR) cases, including changes related to spare parts and technical improvements
- Supporting ongoing operation by ensuring systems are functional, reliable, and maintained according to standards
- Collaborating with maintenance technicians, operators, and external service providers to resolve technical issues efficiently
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience with troubleshooting of technical systems, preferably within utilities or process equipment
- Has hands-on experience with maintenance activities in a GMP-regulated environment
- Has a structured and practical approach to problem-solving
- Is comfortable working across multiple technical disciplines
- Comes from a background in the pharmaceutical or medical device industry
Preferred Skills:
- Solid knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems
- Educational background as Maskinmester, Technical Engineer, or similar technical discipline
- Good understanding of GMP requirements
- Experience with maintenance systems and documentation practices
- Ability to read and understand technical documentation (e.g. P&IDs, manuals, electrical wiring diagrams, and control schematics)
- Strong analytical skills with a hands-on mindset
- Clear and structured documentation skills
