Engineering Director – Airport

We are looking for an Engineering Director for our airport business to take full ownership of our global Engineering function across Product and Project Engineering. You will operate at the intersection of product scalability and flawless project delivery—ensuring we don’t just engineer solutions but industrialise them and execute them repeatedly at high quality.

Engineering is at the core of our competitiveness. This role is crucial in defining how we scale through better products, stronger project execution in a globally aligned setup.

Based out of our Aarhus office in the heart of our Airport Centre of Competence (CoC), you will lead through leaders, align global teams, and build a globally aligned engineering setup that can scale with the business. The Airport Engineering function consists of approximately 80 employees based in Denmark. The focus will be on increasing engineering efficiency, strengthen delivery reliability, and ensure that engineering stays a competitive advantage.

Building scalable standardized products is the essence of an efficient delivery and this will be a significant part of your organisation including mechanical, electrical, automatisation and high level control competences.

Your role

You will take on the global responsibility for our airport engineering, leading and developing a multi-disciplinary engineering organisation through strong leadership teams. It is essential that you are able to create a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement, while strengthening leadership capability, ongoing development and organisational resilience. Moreover, you will:

  • Ensure seamless transition from product development to project execution
  • Drive standardisation, modularisation and configuration strategies
  • Lead industrialisation efforts to improve scalability, cost efficiency and quality
  • Establish strong product lifecycle management and continuous improvement loops

This is a key role with a strong focus on ensuring full visibility of our global engineering capacity and competencies. You will be working closely with global stakeholders across the organisation to enable efficient cross-border resource allocation and utilisation and drive long-term workforce planning and capability development. To succeed, you will be establishing aligned processes, governance and engineering standards globally to enable the rest of the project organisation to successfully deliver high-complexity projects to airport customers worldwide.

What you bring

We are looking for an experienced engineering leader, who will be able to navigate in a large, global and complex matrix organisation with a wide range of stakeholders. You bring significant leadership experience from the engineering industry and have a proven track record in both product engineering and complex project delivery. Moreover, we imagine that you:

  • Bring strong experience with standardisation, industrialisation and scalable product strategies across all disciplines
  • Hold strong experience in leading across geographies and functions
  • Have significant experience in driving transformation, performance improvement and organisational change.

This role is for you if you thrive in simplifying complexity and creating structure, while balancing long-term product strategy with short-term delivery pressure. You build trust quickly and lead with clarity and direction across cultures, functions and seniority and are comfortable in operating in a global matrix.
