Your mission: architecting smart production systems

You will provide technical and strategic leadership to a dedicated, specialized group of approximately 10 engineers focused exclusively on production test development and production test systems. Working in dynamic, cross-functional development teams, you will deliver new analytical solutions to the global market. You will work in close partnership with the NPD Project Team and the Test Project Manager to plan project deliveries and ensure we create meaningful production test solutions that add real value to the production line. Crucially, you will act as the visionary for Production Test Development (PTD), looking beyond today's tools to define and implement our next-generation test architecture.

How you will make an impact

Your role bridges daily operational excellence with long-term strategic innovation. In this collaborative leadership role, you will:

  • Define the strategic roadmap: Architect the future of Production Test Development at FOSS by identifying and evaluating new testing platforms, software frameworks, and scalable hardware architectures.
  • Pioneer smart testing: Drive a strategic shift in how we test by implementing advanced module-level testing and maximizing the use of instrument self-tests to streamline the production line.
  • Optimize production metrics: Design test strategies that not only guarantee quality but also optimize production cycle times, maximize yield, and ensure cost-effective CAPEX investments.
  • Integrate early testability: Act as the crucial bridge between R&D and Manufacturing, ensuring new products are designed from day one to be easily, automatically, and reliably tested.
  • Empower the engineering team: Guide, mentor, and inspire a team of ~10 skilled test engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, curiosity, and continuous innovation.
  • Influence early design: Participate actively in design reviews to provide critical input on hardware testability, influencing the product design from an early stage.
  • Manage external tech partners: Collaborate with vendors to ensure the seamless integration of production test equipment.

The engineering leadership we need

To succeed in this role, you are a strategic thinker with a talent for change management and stakeholder alignment. You know how to guide a team through technological shifts, fostering an environment of curiosity and high performance. We envision that you have:

  • A Master's degree in Electrical, Mechatronic, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Solid experience in hardware test design and manufacturing environments, preferably from the low-volume electronics or technology industry.
  • Proven technical and strategic leadership experience, with a passion for guiding a team of engineers and driving technology forward.
  • A solid understanding of LabVIEW and TestStand, as well as experience with other programming languages (such as Python, C#, or C++), to effectively guide the team's technical direction and evaluate future platforms.
  • A strong track record of innovating production test setups, including experience exploring new software platforms and implementing modern test philosophies (such as module tests and instrument self-tests).
  • A great understanding of how effective production and supply chains work, and how tests contribute to a robust value chain.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required. It is a strong plus if you can communicate with Production in spoken Danish.

Jan’s daily work as a manager in Concept Development consists of generating new ideas in collaboration with his team and deciding which ideas should be developed. Meet Mariana – Chemometrician in Research & Development

Mariana is a Spanish Chemometrician specialised in NIR. Coming from a research background her move to FOSS was motivated by a desire to work with real products and real customers. AT FOSS she is involved in the innovation of new products, developing calibrations for the EyeFoss image analysis grain analyser.
