For our Headquarters in Denmark (Hillerød), we are looking for a Business Unit Director, Grain & Feed, in our Marketing & Business Innovation organization. As Business Unit Director, Grain & Feed, you will take the lead in creating growth and an engaging winning mentality in one of FOSS’ most important industry segments.

The job and the team

You will join the Marketing & Business Innovation Management Team and report directly to the Senior Vice President, Marketing & Business Innovation. You will have two direct reports, an Industry Manager and a Strategic Marketing Manager, who will support you in driving commercial growth in the grain & feed markets. You will take the commercial lead chairing the Business Unit Leadership Team in close collaboration with the Grain & Feed R&D Program Director and Technical Product Management Director. Together, you drive the strategic and tactical development of FOSS’ Grain & Feed business in close collaboration with Business Development, R&D, Technical Product Management, and Marketing.

Primary tasks

As Business Unit Director, you are responsible for

  • Setting a clear strategic direction and driving commercial strategy execution through the Grain & Feed business unit
  • Enabling our global sales organization to maximize sales through effective commercial training and support
  • Tactical marketing planning, where we plan, drive the execution, follow-up, and adjust on global initiatives
  • Value-based pricing and positioning vs. competitors
  • Portfolio- and product lifecycle management (e.g. launch, rejuvenation and pruning)

All the above is done with a clear focus on meeting customer needs and industry trends.

Your base will be in our office in Hillerød, but you should expect approx. 40 days of travelling – split between FOSS sales & service companies, exhibitions and customer and partner visits.

Profile

  • Experience from a business-to-business environment is required, preferably with experience from the food & agri sector and/or analytical equipment
  • You probably have a Master’s degree in Business, Economics, or Engineering
  • +7 years of experience from commercial role (Global Marketing Manager, Business Development Manager, Business Unit Manager or similar)
  • Strong ability to take the lead, set a clear direction, and inspire & motivate your colleagues
  • Superior skills in stakeholder management that enable you to balance multiple interests and rally stakeholders around the strategic direction
  • Experience with- and demonstrated skills of using market and product management tools (e.g. Market & product plans, value-based pricing etc.)

Mariana is a Spanish Chemometrician specialised in NIR. Coming from a research background her move to FOSS was motivated by a desire to work with real products and real customers. AT FOSS she is involved in the innovation of new products, developing calibrations for the EyeFoss image analysis grain analyser.
