Strategic Buyer, IT

To further strengthen our strategic procurement, we are looking for a Strategic Buyer for IT. The focus of this role is the strategic procurement of IT services as well as software and hardware, but you will also be involved in cross-functional procurement projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning, negotiating, drafting software contracts with important vendors to avoid lock-in situations and secure the future growth of our software contracts
  • Negotiate in a cross-functional environment with Business, IT and you as Procurement
  • Assisting in developing the Global IT Procurement Category Strategy as part of the Global Category Manager team, and being responsible for it implementation of parts of the strategy
  • Contributing to the always changing and developing contract management concept for existing and new IT contracts
  • Development and maintenance of strategic IT supplier relationships
  • Ensure an efficient way to handle smaller purchases (Hardware, C-parts and smaller D-contracts for software) where transaction costs are key
  • Developing an expert area within IT procurement via training and guidance (Cloud, AI, SaaS, etc.)
  • Drive governance topics such as Cyber Security and Cloud control to ensure compliance to our ISO standard

What you bring

We are looking for a colleague that has an interested in the field of IT Procurement and negotiating Software contracts. Your personality must be strong and persistent in order to negotiate successfully under hard conditions. As you will step into a role that covers mainly strategic/tactical tasks, but also will have some hands-on operational tasks, it is important that you bring a strategic approach and mind-set, enabling you to set the direction for IT procurement and understands the future impacts of the negotiations you drive.

Moreover, we imagine that you:

  • Hold a degree in IT, Economics, Business or a related field
  • Have experience in strategic procurement, preferably with a focus on IT agreements
  • Are familiar with IT contract management; experience software contracts and important terms and conditions for such contracts
  • Have some technical knowledge in IT infrastructure, cloud platforms, enterprise architectures, and IT security
  • Have strong negotiation skills
  • Are proficient in MS Office; experience with SAP is a plus
  • You are willing to travel at least some times a year to meet our IT and Procurement colleagues mainly in Beckum (Germany)
