  • Join GE HealthCare to help ensure the biological safety of our ultrasound scanners, transducers, and accessories. This is your opportunity to become part of an innovative company delivering advanced imaging solutions for diagnostics and surgery.

We are looking for a Biocompatibility Specialist to join the Reprocessing and Biocompatibility team for a 12-month project position. This is a great opportunity if you would like to gain experience with biocompatibility for advanced reusable medical devices, as you will be part of a cross-functional effort on documenting the safety and performance through the lifetime of our ultrasound scanners, transducers, and accessories.

The Reprocessing and Biocompatibility team consists of 7 dedicated specialists working to ensure that products are biologically safe and can be safely cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized for use in diagnostic and surgical procedures. As a part of R&D we participate in projects and cross-functional collaboration with colleagues in Denmark and the USA. We have a strong team with a mix of seniority and backgrounds, valuing knowledge sharing and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset. We share an informal, open, and curious approach to our work – and life – meaning that lunch-break conversations are lively, with a grain of humor.

As our new Biocompatibility Specialist your typical tasks will include:

    • Performing biological evaluation according to ISO 10993-series of standards
    • Planning, execution, interpretation, and documentation of chemical and biological tests for our products
    • Collaboration with Reprocessing specialists and other colleagues to design studies to reflect that reusable products are cleaned, disinfected and sterilized during product lifetime
    • Collaborate with internal and external partners for the studies, including contract laboratories
    • Write biocompatibility documentation, including updates and maintenance of documentation for existing products

    Your professional background

This project position is an opportunity to grow and develop your experience in biocompatibility and toxicology, working with biological risk assessments for advanced reusable medical devices. We welcome your application, if your background allows you to understand how devices interact with the human body. Experience from working with biocompatibility in the medical device industry is an asset, but your experience may be from another relevant background.

    In addition, you:

    • Have a relevant degree in Engineering, Pharmacy, (Human)Biology or other relevant background
    • Have knowledge about biological safety assessment, pre-clinical testing and/or toxicology (incl. ISO 10993)
    • Have knowledge about physiology, toxicology, material science and/or principles of disinfection and sterilization
    • Have good planning and communication skills
    • Have a systematic and analytical approach
    • Have a proactive and collaborative mind-set
    • Are fluent in English, spoken and written

We look forward to receiving your application, in which you describe:

    1) Your motivation for becoming part of our Reprocessing & Biocompatibility team

    2) Your experience and skills that are particularly relevant to the role

For more information regarding the position, you are very welcome to contact our Manager, Reprocessing & Biocompatibility, Lise Lyck, Lise.Lyck@gehealthcare.com.
