Sundew is a start-up company targeting aquatic and water-borne pest and disease (www.sundew.bio). We thus address the huge unmet need in the fast-growing aquaculture market as well as in agriculture, animal heath, human health, and ecological problems. Our first product and platform technology are based on naturally occurring lipopeptides with proven efficacy against a range of fish parasites. Sundew is at a stage where every employee will be able to make a huge impact on the future of the company. The company is at present located at the Symbion Incubator in Copenhagen.
We seek a highly motivated APPLICATION SCIENTIST for our research laboratory in Copenhagen. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to, 1) guide and manage efficacy testing of our products against a variety of diseases and targets, as well as environmental testing (collaborative and contract research), 2) work with outside advisors and customers to optimize formulation of our products, as well as with our internal team on the DSP process and 3) perform in house experiments as needed to complement 1) and 2). The position will give intellectual challenge and rich possibilities to develop your skill sets as well as being part of commercially and scientifically exciting projects. Some traveling activity will be expected as will flexibility to attend conference calls in evenings and/or early mornings.
The ideal Candidate Possesses:
- Ph.D. or M.Sc. degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or similar
- Experience with efficacy testing of molecules against disease/pest targets and ideally formulation design
- An outgoing, adaptive, and cooperative personality
- The urge for meticulous and effective planning and execution
- Willingness to “muck-in” on areas outside your own personal sphere of expertise when needed
Knowledge of fish disease and aquaculture practises will be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.
