Vessel-Sharing Agreements (VSA) are contracts where two or more carriers agree to share their capacity on a single string. The shared tonnage enables carriers to provide improved products at a lower cost than possible by going alone.

VSA is an important element of the Total Fixed Cost and therefore, we are looking for a self-driven, structured and analytical individual to take ownership of the controlling of the Financial Settlements with VSA Partners.

The main purpose of the role is to ensure the integrity and accuracy of VSA costs, therefore the prerequisite for any candidate for this role is a good understanding of shipping/operation execution and prior exposure to finance or cost controlling.

A position that will provide an excellent opportunity to build knowledge of many aspects of operations finance that are all part of the settlement process for vessel sharing and slot sale agreements.

You will be working closely with our team in GSC (Global Service Centre) that is responsible for all execution.

You will report to the Head of Fixed cost controlling.

Key responsibilities

  • Have a detailed understanding of the VSA contracts and settlement principles.
  • Continuously review master data required for settlement process as well as settlement logics built into the VSA system and ensure it is aligned with VSA contracts.
  • Support and drive the timely and accurate processing of proforma and actual settlements with partners.
  • Ensure all special arrangements such as blanking, ad hoc, slot swap or compensations are timely and correctly accounted for.
  • Verify and approve actual and ad hoc settlements in the accounting system.
  • Review and follow up on deviations between proforma and actual costs.
  • Responsible for the preparation of cost recovery cases.
  • Support and provide input for the negotiations with partners, participate in the discussions and provide overview on the financial impact.
  • Recommend and implement necessary business/process controls and ensure compliance to internal and external requirements are met.

We are looking for

  • You hold a master’s degree in finance, economics or equivalent.
  • Good understanding of the shipping industry.
  • Experience in operations execution.
  • Analytical, financial or cost control experience.
  • You are a team player who is used to and enjoys working independently with the ability to engage, influence, guide and challenge multiple stakeholders across the organization.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong integrity and a humble personality that goes well with people at all levels in a global organization.
  • You are used to and enjoy working in a challenging, fast-paced and changing environment dealing with a lot of different tasks at the same time.
  • You are skilled in written and spoken English. Danish is not required.
