DTU Mechanical Engineering in cooperation with NTNU AMOS - Centre for Autonomous Marine Operations and Systems has an open PhD position in ship motion dynamics coupled with the subfields of estimation theory, and data analytics and communication.
The multidisciplinary PhD project will address sea state estimation using a network of heterogeneous sensors, which, on a more specific level, involves network-based sea state estimation using simultaneous data from multiple ships.
The PhD study is under the Double Doctorate Degree (cotutelle) agreement between NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology) and DTU (Technical University of Denmark).
The Climate Change and Sustainable Development research group (CCSD) at DTU Management Engineering, Technical University of Denmark, invites applications for a 3-year PhD position related to extreme storm surges and climate risk assessment along the Danish coasts. The position is offered in collaboration with the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI).
Storm surges is one of the main natural hazards in Denmark, as testified by recent as well as historical storm surges. Due to climate change and the related sea level rise, damages to human and natural systems caused by storms and storm surges are expected to become more frequent.
The aim of the PhD project is to identify the physical limits of a “perfect” storm surge, i.e. to enhance the knowledge of how extreme (worst-case scenario) storms and storm surges on the Danish coasts can get under present and future climatic conditions.
A new PhD scholarship focussing on ‘wind energy and society’ is being offered through a collaboration between two DTU departments: DTU Management Engineering and DTU Wind Energy.
The successful candidate will be formally hosted by DTU Management Engineering, in the Industrial Dynamics and Strategy (IDS) group at the Technology and Innovation Management division, on the Lyngby campus.
The IDS group focuses on understanding change processes of wider innovation systems and empirically has a stronghold in the sectors of energy and cleantech. There will be co-supervision by DTU Wind Energy on the Risø campus where the candidate is expected to spend time with the small but growing social science community in the department.
The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) are seeking a new full time position to the group of numerical weather prediction (NWP).
