Industrial PhD position: Stability Assessment of In Situ Railway Embankments

Do you want to contribute to the green transition? Sustainable and resilient railways are part of the answer. You can obtain a PhD from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) while working for Banedenmark - the Danish Railway company. We offer a PhD position in collaboration with DTU Sustain and Banedenmark that aims to bring us a step closer to building the future of railway: resilient and sustainable.

The objective of this project is to develop new procedures that would optimize assessment of existing railway embankments and design of new ones, reducing construction and maintenance costs thereby advancing the competitiveness of rail as a transportation means.

Laboratory technologist / technician - DTU Aqua

The position is affiliated to the section for Marine Living Resources with main tasks related to the research area Fish Biology.

You will be responsible for organising and maintaining our laboratories, ordering and keeping track of chemicals and consumables, and overviewing safe operating procedures. Laboratory tasks include sample registration and preparation for different analyses, conducting analyses, e.g. histology using different staining techniques and digitisation, molecular analyses including RNA/DNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, primer design and qPCR, and assisting in experimental studies of fishes.

PhD scholarship in Supramolecular and Bioorganic Chemistry - DTU Chemistry

A 3-year PhD scholarship in supramolecular and bioorganic chemistry is available at the Technical University of Denmark.

The project will explore the use of enzyme-catalysed reactions in templated dynamic covalent synthesis – combining supramolecular chemistry and enzymology in a biotechnological approach to oligosaccharide synthesis.

Your work could include:

• the design, organic synthesis and characterisation of molecular building blocks, templates and mechanically-interlocked structures;

PhD scholarship: Computational Prediction of Nuclear Fission Products Behavior in a Molten Salt Reactor – DTU Chemistry

A 3-year PhD scholarship concerned with the use of computer simulation for predicting fission products (FP) behavior – such as solubility – in a Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) is available.

In the SolveMSR project – funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark – we will work towards creating a computational framework for predicting FP behavior in the fuel salt matrix of MSRs. We will benchmark the framework against experimental data.

Your role as a PhD student will be to design, model and build an experimental magnetothermal energy harvesting device setup where we can test new designs of the various sub-components of the systems. Are you interested in learning and extending on state-of-the-art numerical modelling techniques and, at the same time, contribute to improving the listening experience of smart hearable users and hearing impaired?

As a PhD candidate with us you will create models of audio devices that are worn in or over the ear and including the wearer’s acoustical and mechanical influence. The two positions are part of the project Loki: Situational aware collaborative bio-inspired cyber-deception.

This project, inspired by Norse mythology, with Loki being a shape-shifter god and a master of trickery, aims at redefining and evolving the emerging field of cyber-deception. Here, we attempt to deceive attackers by creating fake vulnerable systems that are aware of their surroundings and are constantly shifting.

The project takes inspiration from nature (e.g., from the mimicry phenomenon) to synthesize sophisticated deception.
