If yes, this opportunity could be for you! We are seeking a passionate developer for our Medical & Science department, which focuses on cardiometabolic diseases.

Your new role
As the International Medical Director, you will spearhead and contribute to the projects which aim to bring innovative treatment to patients within obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) to improve metabolic and cardiovascular health.


You will be working with medical-scientific colleagues with clinical, research, and pharmaceutical industry experiences in the global and regional/local settings.


As an International Medical Director, your main responsibilities will be focused on:

  • Overseeing clinical development activities including product life cycle management targeting cardiometabolic diseases with a primary focus on obesity
  • Providing Medical & Science input with a significant impact on the project strategy, product development plan, regulatory interactions, therapy area strategy and coordination with strategies related to the future cardiometabolic portfolio
  • Designing clinical trials, providing medical oversight in the trial conduct phase, interpreting and documenting trial results, supporting scientific publications and submissions to health authorities
  • Mentoring and knowledge-sharing with colleagues
  • Upholding high scientific quality in all Medical & Science deliverables while fostering strong collaboration and communication with key stakeholders from early research to commercial
  • Promoting a culture of teamwork and constructive dialogue within the Medical & Science department and across the broader Medical & Science Cardiometabolic area

Your new department
In Medical & Science cardiometabolic area, our purpose is to improve the life of patients living with cardiometabolic diseases. We are responsible for the planning and execution of global clinical trials and for medical and scientific support to health authority interactions. We are instrumental in documentation and interpretation of clinical data leading to new drug applications and variation applications, periodic safety updates on marketed drugs, and drugs in clinical development, providing support to access to medicines, and external scientific communication. The department is responsible for supporting cardiometabolic projects related to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and MASH therapy areas, and internally we work in cross-functional teams. Our key external stakeholders are the scientific community and medical experts, regulatory authorities, and market access institutions.

Your skills and qualifications
To be a competitive candidate, we expect you to have:

  • Medical Doctor degree complemented by a PhD or equivalent research experience
  • Advanced therapy area expertise and clinical experience in cardiometabolic diseases, ideally including diabetes, obesity and weight management
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical research or drug development in an academic or industry setting, preferably spanning clinical activities in phases I through IV
  • 3+ years of accomplishment in all aspects of conducting clinical trials (e.g., planning, executing, reporting, and publishing) in a global/matrix environment in the pharmaceutical industry. Demonstrated experience in late phase clinical development involving phase 3b and 4 trials is preferred
  • Substantial experience in clinical submissions, health authority responses, and label negotiations
  • Significant and broad understanding of pharmaceutical value chain supported by a strong grasp of business and strategic principles in clinical drug development
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder management and informal leadership within a cross-functional project-oriented organisation, along with experience in presenting and engaging at internal and external governance boards


On a personal level, we expect that you have a strong analytical mindset and excellent interpersonal communication skills with cross-cultural awareness as a dedicated team player ready to take on informal leadership combined with the ability to guide and motivate colleagues. Being well-balanced with high degree flexibility and resilience is essential for managing both minor and major tasks from various stakeholders.

Ability and willingness to quickly adjust to new situations in a continuously developing environment while being agile, positive and open-minded with a focus on high quality and results. You have the skills to navigate and collaborate with stakeholders across the value chain with an action and solution-oriented, problem-solving approach. You have business acumen, innovation, strategic and critical thinking skills aligning scientific innovation with corporate goals, regulatory frameworks and market access needs.
