Glycom A/S is a well-established Danish biotechnology company with a strong focus on production and development of human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) and their applications within infant nutrition and human health. The company’s R&D unit is located at its headquarters in DTU Science Park, Hørsholm. Our R&D work is focused on HMO production technologies and preclinical and clinical development. Glycom R&D employs a successful team of scientists and technicians with international background and specialized know-how in strain engineering, fermentation, downstream processing, carbohydrate chemistry and analytics.
You will be part of a team of 13 enthusiastic and friendly colleagues in the newly formed department of Upstream Technologies, which combines strain engineering and microbial fermentation. You will help our department to operate state-of-the-art bioreactors from microtiter format to 10L working volume and perform standard microbiological tasks. The job will be for 8-10 hours/week in average, including 4-5 weekend days per month. The main tasks are sampling and control of bioreactors, off-line analyses (biomass, pH, NH4, etc.), sample preparation for HPLC analysis and preparation of growth media, stock solutions and other auxiliaries, routinely needed to keep the laboratory running. After an initial training period, you will work independently. You will learn a lot about operation and control of fermentation processes and microbial physiology. The work place will be at our headquarters in Hørsholm.
The ideal candidate has a deep interest in the technical and physiological aspects of fermentation technology and is taking undergraduate studies in biotechnology, (bio)chemical engineering or a related subject. Ideally you have practical experience within microbial fermentation or have previously worked as laboratory technician. You are quality-minded, good at documenting your work and have strong hands-on laboratory skills. You speak and write English fluently. As a person you are reliable, open-minded, have good communication skills and a good sense of humor.
